This Week's Devotion Was Inspired By:
Revelation 21:1-4 ESV
'Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” '
from head knowledge to heart knowledge:
- Spend a little time thinking about the glorious reality of eternity.
- Reflect on how whatever you’re facing now won’t be with you there.
- Consider how this perspective can give you a perspective of hope in the midst of the trials or everyday struggles you’re facing this week.
KEY POINT: Keeping eternity in mind helps us put our daily trials (& big tragedies) into perspective

When we’re facing something difficult—whether it’s a big trial in our life or just the everyday struggles of teaching and life—it is so helpful to remember the glorious future that awaits us.
Listen to these verses from Revelation 21:
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’"
These scriptures are so encouraging because they remind us that any struggles, trials, or tears we face here are temporary. They will not exist in eternity.
We live in the in-between: Christ has redeemed us on the cross, but He has not yet made everything right in eternity.
