When we're feeling weary or discouraged, Deuteronomy 31:8 is a very encouraging passage. Let's check it out.

He says, "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

It's so simple, but also so profound. When we are weary, discouraged, or frustrated, those emotions can be so high, and they can block our view of God and feel all-encompassing. And so what we have to do is lift our eyes above our circumstance—whatever it is that has us down, exhausted, or discouraged—and just remember:

The Lord goes before us.
He's involved.
He's active.
He cares.

He will be with you. We aren't alone, even though sometimes it feels like it. He will not leave you or forsake you. We are not going to be alone. He's going to walk with us through whatever comes next.

And so it ends with, do not fear or be dismayed.

Sometimes it's easy to say, "Don't be afraid." It's not always easy not to be afraid, right? But we have to speak these truths to our hearts and remind ourselves:

I don't need to worry.
I don't need to be discouraged.
I don't need to be afraid.

Because God is with me.
Because He goes before me.
Because He's active and involved.

And I can trust Him—that even if it doesn't work out the way I want, it's going to be okay. He will be with me, and He will not leave me.

So, if you are going through something difficult today or this week, I want to encourage you to take a few moments and meditate on that truth: That God is with you. That He goes before you. That He's active and involved—yes, in this situation.

Meditate on that truth. Allow it to be a balm to your spirit. Then commit, moment by moment, to trust Him in that.
